Sugar allergy symptoms are very rare and also very hard to battle with because almost every food item contains sugar and our body also needs sugar for sustaining energy. So for a person with sugar allergy the entire eating process may be a very disturbing thing there is also a general tendency among people to confuse sugar intolerance with sugar allergy.

Sugar allergy symptoms may affect children as well as adults but children are more susceptible to it than adults. The symptoms will depend on the allergic person’s level of sensitivity to sugar and also on the quantity of sugar or sugar contained food that was eaten.

A person with a sugar allergy may experience symptoms similar to most other food allergies. The symptoms may include

• Heartburn
• Feeling of restlessness and uneasiness
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Rashes in different parts of the body
• Stuffy ear
• Rapid heartbeat

A person with sugar allergy may experience only one or two of these symptoms in most of the places. Only in cases of extreme sensitivity to sugar that a person can get almost all of these symptoms together.

Like in other food allergies in some rare cases sugar allergy symptoms may also become life threatening. Though very rare to find, sometimes sugar allergy can cause Anaphylaxis. It is a very dangerous allergic reaction and is considered as medical emergency. In an Anaphylactic shock the patient’s throat, mouth and tongue and other airways to the lungs swell as a result of which that patient is unable to breathe. This can be accompanied by other symptoms like a sudden drop in blood pressure level, lightheadedness, dizziness, nausea and even fainting.
