Sulfa allergy symptoms occur when an individual is allergic to a group of drugs known as sulfonamides. There are around 3 percent of People in America who are allergic to sulfa.

The symptoms in most cases appear in the form of some skin related problems such as hives, Eczema, photo sensitivity. In a few very sensitive people some very serious and life threatening conditions like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Nercrolysis may develop.

Liver and kidney damage

People with sulfa sensitivity are at the risk of liver and kidney damage. Sulfa allergy can trigger a particular type of Hepatitis which can result in liver and kidney failure in some instances.

Blood problems

Sulfa sensitivity may result in blood related problems in some people. Sulfa can affect the blood cell resulting in the decreased number of white blood cells, red blood cell and platelets.

Breathing problem

Sometime sulfa allergy symptoms can come in the form of breathing problems in number of individuals. Due to sulfa sensitivity pneumonia like condition may occur which in turn aggravate the asthma symptoms and result in breathing difficulties.
